Hero’s Purpose aims to bridge the gap between Majora’s Mask and Twilight Princess, completing the story of the Hero of Time. It follows Link as he returns to Hyrule after saving Termina, only to find the kingdom facing a renewed threat of destruction from Ganondorf.

Over the last five years, McGarry has leveraged his dual backgrounds as an encyclopedic Zelda fan and a professional animator to bring to life a YouTube series that bridges the gaps between Zelda canon, unique fan journeys, game-based storytelling, and cinema. The series has amassed millions of views and provided a new framework for fans to evaluate their understanding of Link, the Triforce, their own position in the Zelda universe, and more.
This conversation marks the second opportunity we’ve had to sit down live with McGarry and members of the Hero’s Purpose and With a Terrible Fate community to discuss his work, the Zelda series, and the nature of video-game storytelling.
