With A Terrible Fate

The Drawing Board: A Conversation at Phillips Exeter Academy

The following is an episode of The Drawing Board, a podcast by With a Terrible Fate that highlights the unstructured conversations about video games from which our analytical content is derived.

Welcome to Episode 5 of The Drawing Board, a new podcast by With a Terrible Fate.

On the second episode of this podcast, Dan and I discussed the formative senior projects about video games that we conducted in high school at Phillips Exeter Academy with the support of some exceptional faculty mentors. A couple of weeks ago, just before our presentations at PAX East, we had the opportunity to return to Exeter, sit down with those same mentors, and discuss how our work on video games has evolved since those projects 5 years ago.

Clockwise from top left: Kathleen J. Brownback, Erica Plouffe Lazure, Russell Dwight Weatherspoon, and Thomas F. Ramsey.

We spoke with four of our teachers and mentors: Kathleen J. Brownback, Erica Plouffe Lazure, Russell Dwight Weatherspoon, and Thomas F. Ramsey. We covered everything from our initial senior projects, to the current state of video-game discourse, to the evolving role of video games in education.

Listen in for a view into where With a Terrible Fate came from, and where the study of video games is going.

Thanks to all of our mentors for participating in this conversation with us! We had a wonderful time speaking with you, and we hope to have the chance to represent With a Terrible Fate at Exeter again in the future.
